Free FICO Scores |
|
|
Many of us had heard about FICO but few people really understand what it is. The FICO is a credit score which is a number used to represent a persons overall credit rating. It represents a person’s credit worthiness by taking into account all information found on a person’s credit report. Finding Out Your FICO The first time I decided to find out what my FICO score was I assumed it would be on my credit report. Little did I know my FICO score was an entirely different aspect of my credit. I hoped that I would be able to find out my FICO when I requested my free annual credit report but at this time that isn’t possible. One of the easiest ways to find out your free FICO scores is to see if any of your current lenders or banks will provide free FICO monitoring services. There are some credit card companies that will not offer free credit report monitoring but will alert you when your credit scores change. This will let you know that you need to order or access a credit report in order to find out what caused the change. In order to find out if your credit card company offers any services that will monitor your credit score give them a call. You might also be able to find out if you can sign up for these free services online if your credit card allows online account management. If you do not have a credit card some banks and credit unions offer similar services. For a more comprehensive and detailed service you can contact FICO directly online. They currently offer both free FICO scores and free credit scores to anyone who tries their score monitoring services for thirty days. The trial is absolutely free and can be canceled at any time within the thirty day trial period. Another way to find out your FICO is directly through a perspective lender. There are some loan companies that will give you access to free FICO scores if you apply for an account with them whether you are approved or not. A few will email you the information instantly or make it available on their site at the very end of the application. Other companies will give you access to free FICO scores for signing up for an account that will enable you to later to apply for their services. Examples of these services are those that will let you complete one application in order for various lenders to offer to finance your loan. By letting you know your score and also telling you what minimum score is necessary in order qualify they can save themselves some time. |
